That Elusive Tuple Dream

Don’t you just envy those traders who post their DYM, TYM, QYM gains within a year or sometimes even just in months? I’ll be the first to admit I do!

Ever since I’ve started investing in the stock market I’ve always dreamed of doubling my money. I was investing in Blue Chips back then, I started with a small amount. Few years later, I was able to exponentially grow that fund, but… It was not through my gains, it was through consistent monthly deposit in my trading account.  I did not know how to trade technically back then, I was just simply doing Peso Cost Averaging, until 1 year I earned 20% by just religiously scrutinizing COL’s Investment Guide, I would buy those stocks that are way below the suggested Buy Below Price, I did not know it back then but PSEi was in a bull run.

Then one day I saw the stocks in the Top Gainers section, wow these stocks were gaining 40%, 30% 20% in one day! But most names are unfamiliar to me… I dag a little deeper and I learned the term “basura stocks”, and booom! That was the beginning of my interest in Technical Trading.

A couple more years passed of on-and-off self-study about technical trading, I joined various groups, followed people on facebook and that’s where I read the terms DYM, TYM… etc… I was so enamored with these traders’ gains that it ultimately became my dream to achieve this DYM, TYM status.

And so I began my quest…

I attempted a lot of times, but in all these times I failed…

Until I discovered what was lacking… I was lacking in knowledge, and most importantly: I WAS LACKING IN DISCIPLINE AND CONSISTENCY. I would study one system, back test it, try it, use it, execute it and then dump it, move to the next… This was a vicious cycle… Thankfully, last year I recognized my mistakes, accepted my flaws in trading, and took a trading class…

And so… The Tuple Dream gets revived.

What exactly is a tuple? I saw this answer in Quora:

tuple is a finite ordered list of elements . The term originated as an abstraction of the sequence: single, double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, septuple, octuple, …, n‑tuple, …, where the prefixes are taken from the Latin names of the numerals. The unique 0‑tuple is called the null tuple. A 1‑tuple is called a singleton, a 2‑tuple is called an ordered pair and a 3‑tuple is a triple or triplet. can be any nonnegative integer.

0 – empty tuple . (unit / empty sequence) — This was me last year.

So there you go, my Tuple dream, my Tuple goal!

The first order of business this 2019

It seems cliche doesn’t it?

Almost everyone is setting goals at the beginning of the year, this has been the norm since, well, forever. At every first week of January that’s all you can read in almost everyone’s feed in social media; back in the days and up to now that’s also the main topic on morning shows during this time of the year.

For me, that’s a good thing. Having a positive yearly habit is way better than not having any positive thing in your life at all. Having something to aim for is better than not having a direction for the year, or in your life for that matter. Watching people’s interview about their goal settings, what they dream this year, their life ambitions, is a refreshing entertainment and a very much welcomed break from all the negative news circulating in the media.

But if you’re serious about setting goals (like how I believe I am), it shouldn’t only be an annual thing, setting goals should be a DAILY HABIT.

I am grateful to have read the book The One Thing last year, it made explaining goal settings to my colleagues and to people surrounding me in general, way easier. It uses the scientifically proven Domino Effect as a foundation of the process. This process is pretty simple, you just have to ask yourself these questions and your answers become your goals:

  1. Your SOMEDAY GOAL: ask yourself, what is your ULTIMATE GOAL? Your BIGGEST WHY?
  2. Your FIVE-YEAR GOAL: to reach your someday goal, what are you willing to do in the next five years?
  3. Your ONE-YEAR GOAL: to reach your five-year goals, what’s the one thing you can do within this year?
  4. Your MONTHLY GOAL: to reach your annual go what must you do within this month?
  5. Your WEEKLY GOAL: to arrive at your monthly target what are you aiming to accomplish this week?
  6. Your DAILY GOAL: ask yourself, what goals have you set today that will help you get to your weekly goal?
  7. And the most important action of all… What amazing, positive thing are you doing RIGHT NOW that can positively lead you to your DAILY GOAL?

I love this process, this is my favorite goal setting system so far. It is so easy yet if you practice it the results are amazing. What seems to be impossible become easily possible 🙂 Because BIG DREAMS are achieved by taking SMALL ACTIONS, one baby step at a time. It’s just like compounding interests. Marginal improvements for the win!

2019 goals SOMEDAY.JPG

This coming Monday is my first trading day for 2019, it’s not my 1st 1-day goal though, it will already be my 3rd one-week goal to reach my monthly goal in trading. I have faith that my someday goal in trading will come sooner than 5 years, it can be done with persistence and consistency, these are 2 actions that are always included in my daily goals 🙂

Tomorrow is my first day in office for 2019, my whole week there will be dedicated to one-on-one coaching and setting goals with all the staff.

Today was my first day in setting my personal goals. Why do I say first day when it doesn’t take long to set goals? In my case, it takes me about a week to polish my goals, sometimes I add something as long as it is of substance, or sometimes I remove something in the list when I feel it is not helpful.

I’m excited to finish writing my goals and hanging my new vision boards! And I am more excited in accomplishing them!

I wish I can share all my goals with you, but here’s one thing I’m sure of: it will include goals that create POSITIVE HABITS – this is one thing I’m proud of, consistently being an optimist in the past 8 years 🙂

Happy new year! Happy year of the pig! May all your dreams within your 1-year goal list come true!

“You’ve mastered trying to master everyone else’s mastery, except yours”

Aray! Ang sakit ha!

Lakas Tama

This FB post by Nikki aka Nomad Finance Girl really struck me (Read it here: . We all know that MASTERY is the way to success, but what are we doing about it?

I know, I am 100% sure that the end goal is MASTERY (it’s even my facebook timeline cover for God’s sake), but what am I doing about it???

Well, I’m happy to report that last week, two weeks after Master Class and two weeks after my purge, I finally got to trade.

Road to Mastery

During the last week of Master Class, I was outside the country, travelling for work, but at the same time I was trading… I was force trading while I was stressed out with my work project… I was over trading without a plan while my hands were also full with my work project… That ultimately led to a disaster, I had to cut on losses on trades that I had zero idea about. It’s a similar feeling when you get so drunk and wake up the next morning without any recollection on what happened to you the night before… Thankfully, I was able to bounce back to reality and able to recognize this problem. I immediately purged my port…

One week after Master Class, I decided I should start anew, I followed an advice from Mentor Date Masamune that I should’ve followed a long time ago… I made a BIG DECISION TO START SMALL. I took my funds out of my port and kept a small amount as my capital to start over again…

Two weeks on, I still was not trading. I blanked out, I was not able to trade, I froze…  Now that I learned all about these setups, all plays suddenly appeared… But how do I trade all these setups? I was lost, I did not know where to start. I was paralyzed by fear…

On the last week of November, I composed myself, I convinced myself that I should do something about it. And the first thing I did was acknowledge my problem and reflect on it. I told my batch mates about it, I told my life partner about it, and I told my focus discussion group about it. I am lucky to have a strong support system, I received good advice from these people and also from Mentor Mesino that week. I am lucky to have a ZFT support group, the learning is continuous and the support is readily available when you need it.

November 29, 2018 I finally decided to move forward. I accepted to myself that I will fail a lot of times, I will struggle with my emotions, I will be in tough situations… But no matter what, I have to succeed… Because in our batch, ERUDITE, we all made a promise to make our Master Class batch a 100% success rate. And I must succeed for my family, my biggest WHY…

December 2, 2018 / Day 0     I started backtesting which I put in journals so I can acknowledge my mistakes and also writing the possible solutions. After this, I made may Watch List.

December 3, 2018 / Day 1     My port is finally alive 🙂 I still continued my back test.

December 8, 2018 / Day 6     I Felt happy that I finally got to trade, and I followed the plan. This is the excerpt from my trading journal:

Day 6 A work in progress

I am still a work in progress, I think we all are, I think we will always be…

For now, I leave it here, I will FOCUS ON MASTERING MYSELF…

Until next time!

Back to Basics (Reviewer Series): Trading the ZeeFreaks Way

In this reviewer, I would like to post 10 sample charts that clearly shows Boss Zee’s AOTS Parameter settings. The purpose of writing these reviewers here in the blog is so I can share the knowledge that Coach Celeste and Boss Zee imparted with us, and for me to easily remember the lessons 🙂

Here is the link to Boss Zee’s blog if you want to go in depth with the technicals:

The Basic of Basics DirectoryThe Basic of Basics MOVING AVERAGES notes

So here goes the examples.

Remember the AOTS formation consists of the 20MA (Red) going above the 50MA (Magenta) and both are above 100MA (Blue). Enjoy studying these 10 examples below.

Next, I will post 10 chart samples of PUA, or the Parallel Universe Alignment.

Good night!

It still feels like a dream.

I left the office today feeling giddy, it’s six fifteen in the evening at my part of the world, we just had our first Technical Analysis class with The Boss himself… It ended with a beautiful advice from his lady:

“Make the journey a pleasurable one for you. Otherwise, you won’t last.” – typed in the chat bar by our Trading Psychology Coach, Celeste, my mentor.

Today is the day.

It’s June 20, 2018. My day started early as it had in the past week, I do a daily chore that helps me create a positive habit within my family, this was a part of our coach’s project for us. And today, my group mates and I will have our first TA class ever – THIS IS BIG – because it means we passed our performance coach’s habit test which we needed to complete before we can move further. Aren’t we the luckiest bunch? We have the most awesome performance coach in the universe! Not only is she shaping us to become the best traders on the planet, she’s in fact creating a positive ripple in our families’ lives too. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, you are welcome to call her Wendy Rhoades.

Before I tell you what I learned from Boss Zee, here’s the title of the song I’ve been listening to on repeat while writing this, it’s Livewire by Oh Wonder, you’ll find the music within Celeste’s blog post which I also read before writing this. Here’s the link, enjoy:

Trapped in a Circle

So, what have I learned today?

In the opening activity, Boss asked us to share our investing and trading journey. I thought I‘d finished reading Boss Zee’s blog, but I was surprised to know that he started investing  in the stock market as early as 2006 when he was still in High School, a lot earlier than what I thought I knew. It seems I have some blog reviewing to do. Boss same with everyone else in the class started off as an investor, he had an account with some shares given to him as a gift from his brother. It was interesting to know that the stock options were from his brother’s company program, I know about two big companies here in my city who does the same which is somewhat similar to US’ 401K, but this is the first time I hear that a company from the Philippines actually does this. Made me ponder, my staff is aging too, I might need to consider having a pension plan in place starting next year, this is something I’ve planned a couple of years ago but was shelved to prioritize medical insurance.

Back to Boss Zee (my mind got sidetracked for a moment there), he started speculation trading (though he had no idea back then) when he joined Finance Manila. At the beginning, he only listens to stock recommendations, and his first traded stocks included SMC & PCOR. After seeing the potential profits that this new world he discovered can bring, he started studying. And finally, he started teaching technical analysis in 2013 — THANK HEAVENS FOR THIS MOMENT (angelic choir sound please). I consider this a BLACK SWAN event in the Philippine Trading Arena.

My ERUDITE mates Nikkosan & Chronos also shared their stories on how they started trading, it was comforting to know that all of us including Boss himself started out as investors, I am not alone…

Chronos, just like Boss, also started investing in 2006 where he mostly invested in IPOs. He then enrolled in different classes to broaden his knowledge in investing and eventually started reading about TA. He shared that while boss was still in high school in 2006, he was sadly already working on that same year, that’s just Chronos being the funny guy that he is. He also told us how he was sure to have attended a lot more other trading classes hasn’t he found Master Class. But seriously, I genuinely learned three important lessons here: first, it’s never too late for anyone to learn TA; second,  it’s really important to have a mentor who could systematically teach and guide you all throughout; and third, a person’s young age shouldn’t matter, it’s his capabilities and experience that we should look into – in this case, Zeefreaks as our mentor who is way younger than all three of us, but whom we got high respects for.

Follow Chronos, a guy that I’m really proud to be associated with. Check his FB and you’ll know why:

The next to share her story was Nikkosan, this is an interesting one I tell you. Nikkosan started her very-well-organized-and-maintained investing in 2014. Her interest in the Philippine Stock Market started when she was working in a financial institution abroad. Again, just like the rest of us at Master Class, she started her journey as an investor until she got curious on what challenges trading can bring, then she found ZFT. Why I say her investing or trading journey is well-organized is because SHE HAD A JOURNAL SINCE DAY ONE, that’s how she knows that the first stock she ever bought was MEG and that she held on to one particular stock for hundreds of days, and that’s one golden nugget we can all learn from. AMAZING! Right? She tells us more about where it all begun in this blog entry:

Once you get to know Nikkosan, you’ll realize how lucky I am to have her as a friend.

I was the last to share my story. Well, it’s not so interesting as the ones you’ve read above and I didn’t share all in class because I always get nervous in the presence of #ZeeLeste but I’ll tell you all I could recall here. I started investing in the stock market in 2012 when I read the pdf book My Maids Invest In The Stock Market. Like most traders, I always thought before that the stock market was only for the rich. Learning about the stock market was good for me, I got addicted into investing after this, I used the Peso-Cost-Averaging method and religiously bought blue chip stocks every month. As I saw my capital grow it motivated me further to save better and invest more. I subscribed to newsletters, I joined Facebook groups, I read all of COL’s research and reports; I learned about Bloomberg, Financial Times, CNN Money, etc., just like I said – I was hooked! I saw that this world was for me, it opened my eyes to financial knowledge that I had zero knowledge to before, it made me feel rich, it made me feel empowered. Then one day I saw that there are stocks that moved as high as 30-40% in a day but which names I didn’t recognize. I looked around and asked questions in groups, until I learned that these are speculative stocks “stay away from those, they are bad for your portfolio” they said, and I listened, but not for long. When I got interested in these fast-moving stocks, I joined numerous groups and even paid subscriptions for “tips”, it was spoon-feeding, I had my fair share of wins and losses, but I was never satisfied, it always felt like something was missing…

The missing puzzle…

It’s sometime in 2017, I started following a blog called Rooting for Celeste, her stories were so beautiful that I got enamoured with the life of these mysterious traders who called themselves Zeefreaks Tribe. I already knew about ZeeFreaks as early as his first subasta days, but I was still into investing back then so his greatness was not known to me yet. Until one day, I read in a Facebook post that Celeste came back home to Philippines from abroad – for good. Facebook groups were talking about it, subscription groups in discord were talking about it, and even I was telling my life partner about it, my annoyed life partner who doesn’t have any idea about trading, but had to listen to my endless blabber anyways. This event in Celeste’s life made me realize that the stock market could be my potential next business. From then on, trading was no longer just a hobby for me, it became my life mission, this will be my next big success. But of course I would need help – the right one! So I stalked all ZFTs I could possibly ask help from while still constantly stalking Celeste using my troll account. I chose to chase ZFT because they are one of the most respected if not the best trading group in the industry and they opened my eyes and heart to their humongous RAK culture. One day, Celeste was taking a poll if she should create a mentorship program for women traders, this made me jump off my seat! This was my chance, this was the trading fortune I’ve been looking for! After many many deep breaths, I took the courage to write to Celeste. I typed, I erased, I retyped, till I finally hit send… A couple of days passed, I didn’t hear back from her… Feeling embarrassed, I deleted my message thinking it would also get deleted from her end, but a few days passed and she replied, she even apologized for responding late, could you believe it? I mean, what kind of celebrity in this day and age would apologize to a fan for a later reply? Who does that nowadays? Only the celebrity with kind hearts, with a genuine desire to help, that was Celeste, my indirect online mentor… A kind-hearted person I am so proud to now call my mentor, my coach… A lot of beautiful and meaningful conversations followed, and lead to an unforgettable event… Which I think we can save for later.

I got carried away there for a second…

So, back to topic, why does it still feel like a dream?

Knowing the significance of Zeefreaks’ success in trading, he can be compared to a greek god who comes down to earth to teach us mere mortals whenever his busy schedule permits.  For him to teach us of the pros and cons of technical trading or the emphasis of liquidity and volatility is like winning a million bucks! It’s hard to believe! It’s mind-blowing! And most of all, to be taught by a master like him is A GREAT HONOR! I still can’t wrap my head around it sometimes – that the great Zeefreaks is my freakin’ rockin’ mentor. Just awesome! Life is awesome!

I enjoyed every bit of writing this, it’s been a while since I did… Boss was right:

“Your stories are your treasures” — Zeefreaks

If you want to learn what he teaches us, just check his awesome blog for free learnings! Celeste pointed me to this direction in November last year, and I learned a lot of juicy stuff!
